Cynder-lighting practice by Crystal-Dragon1 Cynder-lighting practice by Crystal-Dragon1
i've been told by several people in the Blender comuntiy that if you want good lighting in pictures, use a spotlight, but they frustrate me to no end, so normaly i use a sun lamp, the only problem with that is that the lighting is very intense, and having more than one light can screw up the scene (lighting wise). to fix this, i use the environment lighting, but i discovered something while working on the demo for TLoC. environment lighting doesn't work in games, so i decided i had better get used to spotlights. this is a bit of practice, as well as some scene-composing practice. i'm going to upoad two other versions of this pic: Cynder in her dark form and Cynder in her light form.
Cynder belongs to activition
TLoC to me
*Edit* i changed her eyes and the lighting just a bit

Wow. She looks like she just came out of the first game. Only she's good not evil. As for your lighting problem well. It seems in Blender I can't make a character but lighting I can do. I don't know how that works.

Thanks!
that's not uncommon actually, in major animation and game companies, they often have workers who focus only on the lighting of a scene.

Oh okay and awesome. I hope to see an update of both of them soon and by the way, for the giant feather shape on his forehead, how are we gonna add that to him? Should it be built on the model or added when you add the other feathers.

I was going to send some pics of tornado, but I got yelled at to get off the computer, now that you've reminded me, I'll send them, I think you'll like how he's going, I also did a feather test for his face, but I can't remember if I save it or not :XD: the fur/feather settings in blender have changed a bit since i last did a character like him, so i have to find all the old settings again.
hmmm, i realy don't know, it all depends, do you want them to be long or decorated or anything or just like the short feathers that cover the rest of him? what i was thinking for that is make it like a comb ( like this: [link] or [link] or this charming looking guy: [link] but with a diferant shape) which would allow me to animate it, so when he gets upset or alarmed or something, it might move a little, or even without the animation, i think it would lok pretty good, but it's up to you

Oh well if you can do it, then do but just try to keep the color pattern oh i looked the screenshots. Look at Tornado's reference sheet. His snout has a little bulge and his eyes are smaller. I do love him so far. Keep it up.
